Hello Guys,

I’m NRI living in London for past 5+ years. I’ve saved enough money and wanted to buy a house in London. I’ve been overwhelmed by the house buying process in the UK. The more I read the more challenging it becomes. I wanted to hear from someone who has bought house recently. Please share your experience or give me some tips.

I bought a house near London, it is not exactly in London though but just on the outskirts. I bought it few years back. I was also in same situation as you are. I did a lot of research and search and even created a full document with step by step process. The good news is that it all went smoothly and at the end I realized that this all process stuff is just too much of  “Bhaukal”.

Process was smooth, solicitor took care of everything. The only thing I did and you have to do is to chase your solicitor to get update with each step and then chase seller to reply. House buying in the UK only involves email exchanges between buyer solicitor and seller solicitor, you and the agent will be involved in chases respective side’s solicitors.

Having said above doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do your own due diligence. You can do as much as you could using details available online.
