My background, I’ve been living in the USA for over 10 years. I’ve achieved whatever American dreams I had, money, house, car, the whole shebang. Now I find it boring, life has become run of the mill, there are no challenges, no struggle feel like lifeless tbh. Another reason for returning to India are parents, both are old and being only child I’ve to take care of them so I’ve no choice. I know that settling in India will be challenging after getting used to American lifestyle. Wanted to hear stories from those NRIs who have already returned and settled, pros cons, challenges anything to encourage me :), please no discouragement as my decision to return is final.

Dude your approach is wrong. There is no such thing as “positive” in India. India is an eternal chaos, you have to learn how to cope with this chaos. Everyday is survival and almost scavenging.

Firstly you have to grow thick skin, secondly start learning how to deal with everyday challenges while you are in India. If you don’t learn these two things you’re gonna suffer there.

I travel to India regularly and it is never a pleasant experience going back no matter how positive I become before I start the journey. On every journey I become so emotional that I’m almost in tears just thinking about landing there. While I’m abroad I want to go back to India and as soon as I land I regret my decision and want to run away. Family is the reason I travel back otherwise I doubt I’ll even visit India again. I’ve a great sense of humour which keeps me going as I try to keep things lightly. I talk to people, make them smile with jokes and banter etc etc but physically it is tough to survive.

Give it another 10 years and it will become a living hell, there will be no air to breathe, no water to drink and no place to live.

I agree with you that life in western countries can be boring like hell but that’s the price you have to pay for a comfortable  and peaceful life.

In your case you have no choice but to go back to India so start learning how to deal with life’s challenges.

India is an eternal chaos,

Truly said. Learn to live with it or just perish. This is the reason why they do suicide as they can’t cope with chaos. Life is tough in India. I keep wondering how they cope with it in everyday life and still survive.

I’ve been in the UK only for 1 year and I’ve already started to feel sick when I go back India. Can’t deal with the pollution, noise, corruption, killings. It makes me sick. Before coming the UK I didn’t realize that life can be better and that we have been living in hell.
